.
Everyone knows Computer Viruses. Those polymorphic little
programs that copy themselves everywhere in your machine, always causing
trouble by deleting or changing files. Just another thing to make computers
look more human ;-). Anyhow, if you don't want to have a virus marching
in your hard disk, then you should be careful and always prepared.
Buy an anti-virus program or use shareware versions from
demo disks. You can find free anti-virus programs on the Internet as well.
Sometimes magazines include such utilities in their CDs. Also, just in
case, always keep backups of files you've made or things you can't find
again. Use disks or cds (if you have a cd-r) to have files such as texts
you've written, sounds you won't be able to find again and other useful
programs you haven't already got on a cd somewhere. Apart from that, there
are not much you can do rather than be careful of what files you let into
your system. If it makes you feel any better, not a single virus has infected
my PC these 5 years. Why yours? ;-)
