Viruses are on-line as well. What's the faster way to
spread a virus? To send it to many users from all around the world that
will do the same thing. Disguise matters on here. Never fall victims of
some amateur programer and always check the files you get with an anti-virus
utility. Never accept files -especially executables- from people you don't
know, whatever they claim to do. Notice: when someone sends you a virus,
let's say by e-mail, you are not infected unless you run the file containing
the virus. Don't be afraid, think of it like a thin glass jar full of spiders...
if you mess with it, it may break and let the spiders out, if you open
it then you're doomed -especially if the spiders are poisonous- but if
you just look at it and throw it away ( Shift + Del , don't even let it
get in your Garbage can) then nothing bad will happen to you.
Insist on buying an anti-virus utility, or just get it free
from magazines, rather than download one from the Internet because who
knows.. maybe a nasty hacker had a bad day and managed to get access to
an anti-virus site, infecting everything in his pass, so the program you
will download could not work, mess with your computer and self-destruct
(it has happened!). Don't worry, as I've said before,
if you are careful, then nothing bad will happen to you
(reminds you of Real Life, doesn't it ;-)
